Thomas E. Brennan
Mr. Brennan is a trial lawyer with extensive experience in commercial litigation, including premises liability claims, condominium association disputes, negligence and wrongful death claims, breach of contract and cargo claims, and trucking and transportation matters. He also routinely litigates employment related matters, including employment discrimination and sexual harassment claims, and he counsels clients on regulatory compliance related to the workplace.
Recent representative transactions and matters include:
- Successfully defending a trucking company charged with breach of contract, negligence, and violation of the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act (CUTPA) in connection with a cargo damage claim in excess of $100,000;
- Securing a favorable settlement on behalf of a retail pharmacy charged with a multi-million dollar malpractice claim, arguing that the plaintiff could not establish general and specific causation under State v. Porter, 241 Conn. 57 (1997) and Daubert v. Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals, Inc., 509 U.S. 570 (1993);
- Securing a favorable settlement on behalf of a condominium association sued for damages in connection with a traumatic brain injury suffered as a result of a slip-and-fall; and
- Successfully representing an employer at the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO) charged with age and disability discrimination in the workplace.
Prior to joining Halloran & Sage, Mr. Brennan clerked for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the New York State Attorney General's Office.
